Practical information about Lacanau
Lacanau in a few
The oldest seaside resort in the Médoc, Lacanau is located on the Atlantic coast, about 50 km north-west of the Bordeaux urban area.Located between the Pointe de Grave and the Arcachon Bay, it is part of what is known as the Medocaine Peninsula. A quiet town in winter, Lacanau comes to life in summer and welcomes many visitors who love beaches, cycling and waves. No less than six beaches will be available to those who like to spread their towels on the fine sand, and the waves of the area are known by surfers, who meet in Lacanau in August for the famous Lacanau Pro.
When should I come?
Lacanau has become a seaside resort ... because its climate is appealing ! The city actually offers great weather conditions during the summer season. The temperatures are pleasantly warm, not sweltering, and although the rains are inherent to the oceanic climate that characterizes this coast, Lacanau benefits from sunny days in summer. In winter, the frequency and intensity of the rains are at their peak, but the transition seasons allow you to take advantage of a mild and pleasant atmosphere.
Good to know!
Lacanau is also as popular as Biarritz or Nice ... The summer affluence increases the number of inhabitants in July and August. Remember to book your holiday as soon as possible if you want to find a choice for your rental apartment, house or villa in Lacanau.
